Boxoffice65 brings you Ranveer Singh,Deepika Padukone starrer Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela movie review. Ram-Leela directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Just when you think you have seen it all, there comes a film that reminds you of how far the cinematic medium has come...And how far it can go in the right hands. Let's face it - Bhansali is Bhansali. The visual imagery in all his earlier films - from "Khamoshi: The Musical" to "Guzaarish" is comparable with the best art from any field of aesthetics.
In terms of its free-flowing, unmeasured and operatic opulence, "Ram-leela" (with or without the censorial prefix), comes closest to the giddy high-pitched and yet miraculously controlled tempo and tenor of Bhansali's "Devdas". That too was a steeply sensuous cinematic adaptation from a literary source.
"Ram-leela" goes to William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" and comes away with a marvel of a tale of love-at-first-sight. Bhansali tilts his hat to mythology, folkore and the culture of community clashes with a blend of spontaneity and brilliance.
What Bhansali does to Shakespeare's tumultuous saga of sudden love between scions of two warring families, is beyond the imagination of all other living filmmakers of this country.
The rigorous reworking of the Shakespearean classic required a certain sense of recklessness. Earlier this year, we saw some of the same creative recklessness in two other Bollywood adaptations of "Romeo and Juliet" - namely Aanand L. Rai's "Raanjhanaa" and Manish Tiwary's "Issaq".
But in "Ram-leela", every image and frame tells a story.
Bhansali's Romeo and Juliet are unabashedly sexual in their body and verbal language. None of that traditional coyness and hesitation that characterises traditional courtship when Ram and Leela discuss one another's vital statistics. He runs a porn video parlour. She comes from a family of gun-wielding criminals helmed by a steely matriarch (Supriya Pathak, brilliant). He comments on her '136 inch' chest, she talks about his, er, trigger. They are in love and they know lust is an integral component of their relationship.
No two lovers derived from a classic romance have celebrated their mutual sexual desires so frankly and fearlessly.
Gosh, these two are Romeo and Juliet on steroids! And this is as good a place as any to tell you that no other two actors could have done to Bhansali's Romeo/Ram and Juliet/Leela what Ranveer and Deepika have done. They don't play the two characters. The couple owns their characters.
In his quest for the most visually invigorating shots, Bhansali is here assisted amply by his cinematographer Ravi Varman. Varman uses the camera like Ustad Amjad Ali Khan uses the Sarod. It's an instrument to converse with divinity. Wasiq Khan's art work too unfurls a spiralling tapestry of kaleidoscopic colours that find a place in the hectic frames without jostling or crowding the canvas.
Of the innumerable imperishable images that emerge from the film's tumultuous tale of overnight passion, elopement, estrangement and reunion, I'd single out two. The first shows Barkha Bisht as Ranveer's widowed sister-in-law running away from a gang of attackers. As she runs through the rugged hinterland, her brass vessel tumbles down-slope with her.
The sequence, caught in a desperately dying light, is probably the most vivid image of impending doom I've seen in any recent film.
The other unforgettable image features Deepika, her hand bloodied after an injury, lying on the wet ground in a streak of blood. It reminded me of Aishwarya Rai's slashed wrist creating a pond of blood with her hand in Bhansali's "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam".
Fire and blood are never far away from Bhansali's vision. Though there is plenty of bloodied images in "Ram-leela", the fire this time rages in the eyes of the characters.
The film's visual poetry is so eloquent that you wonder at times if the filmmaker is a closet-painter. A closet-musician, Bhansali certainly is. His self-composed songs assisted by Monty Sharma's evocative background score, perfectly capture the film's impetuous mood.
The actors do the rest. Every performer surrenders to the tempestuous saga. While Supriya Pathak leads the supporting cast with a stellar performance, Richa Chadda, Abhimanyu Singh, Gulshan Devaiah and Sharad Kelkar are the portrait of pitch-perfect emoting.
As for the Ranveer-Deepika pair, I finally know what on-screen chemistry means. Their frankly erotic togetherness is comparable with Raj Kapoor and Nargis in "Awara".
"Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela" is the most vital romantic musical in the last five years. To experience it is to serenade the divine. To miss it would be a crime.

Satya 2 Movie Review

Cast: Sarwanand , Anaika Soti and others
Directed by : Ram Gopal Varma
Produced by : Sumanth Kumar Reddy
Banner :Mammoth Media Entertainment Private Limited
Music by : Amar Mohile
Rating: 1/5
Ram Gopal Varma, who has done loads of gangster films in the past, is back with another gangster based crime drama Satya 2. This film was made in Telugu and Hindi and Sarwanand played the lead role in Telugu version. Here is the review...
What is it about?
Satya (Sarwanand) comes to Hyderabad on a mission to become the king of underworld. He excutes various plans to get noticed and his 'Company' shocks one and all by the brutal murders of many popular celebrities. How the police hunts down Satya forms rest of the story.
Performances:
Sarwanand played a one dimesional character where he needs to be serious all the time. He did okay as the lead. Better characterization could have helped him to emote. Anaika Soti is absolute zero as a performer. She has done ample skin show to cover up her weaknesses. Most of the character actors are from Bollywood. Everyone did their bit.
Technicalities:
Music by Amar Mohile is not at all impressive. Ram Gopal Varma should stop singing for the sake of audience. Background score is too loud. Dialogues are cliched. Editing is poor and cinematography is strictly okay.
Ram Gopal Varma failed as a director in each and every aspect. First of all he didn't have proper script and the direction is very poor. Vintage Varma is completely absent and out of form. This is Varma's favorite genre and he has done classics like Satya and Company in this genre. He is in such a bad form as a director that he couldn't get anything right about this film.
Analysis:
Ram Gopal Varma simply made a film out of vague idea. He hasn't done any homework and it is evident in each every scene. Logic goes for a toss and logic cannot be ignored in these type of films. Director shouldn't give a scope to criticize when he wants to project his protagonist as a brilliant entrepreneur.
Satya 2 moves at sluggish pace and at times it drags like hell. Some scenes never get concluded and the poor dialogue makes it worse for the viewers. Heroine track is awful at the best. Scenes between Satya and heroine are unbearable to watch. Every time they get intimate a horrible song follows to makes things even painful for the viewers.
Ram Gopal Varma needs some retrospection at the moment. He should analyze the reasons for his failures rather blaming the audience. Naming this film as Satya 2 and branding it as successor to iconic Satya is a crime and he should be penalized for doing so. Stay away from this film if you are really care about yourselves. This is not a film but a brutal attack on the senses.

Directed by Suseenthiran
Produced by Vishal
Written by Suseenthiran
Starring Vishal,Vikranth,Lakshmi Menon,Bharathiraja
Rating: 1.75/5
Behind the screens
Vishal who once created sensation with Pandem Kodi in Tollywood failed to keep up the momentum though came with good performance in films like Vaadu Veedu. Now he is teaming with Suseendhran of Naa Peru Shiva fame. Let us see Vishal entertained in Palnaadu.
Story Line
Palnadu region is reputed for bold men and courageous people. However Shiva Kumar (Vishal) grows up like a timid boy. He lives with his brother who is married and father Kalyana Sundaram(Bharatiraja). Siva stays away from fights and avoids involving in any of those kind as he feels his peaceful life will be disturbed by those things. Siva even falls in love with school teacher Malathi(Lakshmi Menon) who happens to be his tenant. Siva's brother a mining engineer objects to a goon Katam Ravi who is out on illegal minining exeeding the Govt permit. This results in Ravi killing Shiva's brother with in front of his father. Kalyana Sundaram vows to exact revenge. How Kalyana Sundaram seeks his revenge and will Shiva help his father or not should be found out on silver screen.
Star Shine
Vishal cameout with routine performance. There is nothing extraordinary in his acting. One gets a feeling that he lacked right expressions and feelings required for the role. May be routine mass entertainers are spoiling him. Bharatiraja peformed well but his role didnot get elevated. Lakshmi Menon impress all as a traditional beauty. However she didnot get chance to showcase her talent. Others did accordingly.
Analysis
Suseendhran came with routine story. except for the first half an hour there is nothing in the film. Everything turns predictable. One wonders how Vishal is signing such inept stories. Suseendran didnot come with any novelty in narration and with poor screenplay and direction, he didnot offer much for the actors to perform. The film lacks comedy, heroine's glamour adding to the woes of the movie lovers.
Technicals
Production values are good.Cinematography of Madhi (Mirchi fame) is extraordinary He added pep to the film. Imman's music is good. He earlier entertained with his music in Gajaraju. Background score is good. Shashank Vennelakanti's dialogues are not that powerful didnot do justice to the film.

Krrish 3 Movie Review

Film: Krrish 3
Starring: Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Vivek Oberoi, Kangana Ranaut
Director: Rakesh Roshan
Producer: Rakesh Roshan
Banner: Filmkraft Productions
Music: Rajesh Roshan
Rating: 3/5
Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Kangna Ranaut, Vivek Oberoi starrer Krrish 3 released on Nov 1st. Boxoffice65 updates Krrish 3 Movie Review below
Yup, the desi super-hero comes of age. Kicking, dragging, screaming and gamboling down the nearest suburban shopping area, or peering up an airborne flight which develops a wheel problem.
Krissh, masked and magnificent in his missionary pose, is ready to take on the world... The big bad world of the dark power brokers who want to rob our earth of all its beauty.
There is something endearingly sincere about Hrithik Roshan's super-hero act. The character's innocence and his own delight at the double life that he leads as the working-class Krishna and his spectacular world-saver of a doppelganger Krissh come through in a series of dexterously executed action sequences that show the power of VFX to create a virtual reality on a par with the ones we have been watching with wide-eyed wonder in Superman, Iron Man, Spiderman...
Man, this super-hero knows his job. His timing as he poses spread-eagled for a take-off is quite awe-inspiring. Hrithik has great fun with all three parts. The scientist father (played with a vocal crutch that could have been avoided), the regular guy and the super-hero all seem real, even as the plot gets progressively mired in the incredible world of virus-infecting mutants who want to... yup you guessed it... destroy the world.
The first 15 minutes of this hurling and hefty homage to heroic hijinks is tame, almost limp. But once Krissh's cape and mask are in place, the narrative gathers pace. Encircling the emotional quotient, grabbing hold of it and placing it in the centre of the special-effects couldn't have been an easy job for the director.
Rakesh Roshan orchestrates the emotions in a flamboyant opera of opulence.
There are some effectively executed action sequences whose vivacity is compounded by the shock quotient provided by the villain Kaal, played by a steely-willed grim and menacing Vivek Oberoi.
That Kaal is evil goes without saying. Oberoi, in in his desperately dark den, wheel-chair bound and determined to be the consummate anti-God, doesn't quite strike the terror in our hearts that Xavier Bardem did the last James Bond film 'Skyfall'.
But Oberoi is adequately sinister with a touch of wry humour that comes to the surface in unexpected moments.
But after Hrithik it is Kangna Ranaut who plays the most interesting character, most interestingly. Gliding into skin-hugging leotards and leather outfits, she seems to bring an underlayer of pain to her evil part. It's a tough role, as it has no reference points to fall back on. Also because Kangna has to walk the tightrope between being an automaton and a full-blooded woman. Kangna pulls it off with aplomb.
But Priyanka Chopra is wasted. Wonder what has happened to her lately! She seems to be trying hard to make an impression in under-written parts.
Krissh 3 has its flabby moments and moments that go haywire in pursuit of entertainment. But the narrative holds together. Technical aspects are quite often remarkable, creating visuals that veer towards vitality with a gusto that earlier super-hero films in Hindi missed by a wide margin.
Ra.One, anyone?
S. Thirru's cinematography is sumptuous yet never over-saturated. The riot of colours and drama is minimised. Krissh's flight across the skyline and the ravishing rubble of orchestrated destruction are captured in an ethos of reined-in exuberance.
Chandan Arora edits most the kinetic material with an eye on austerity of expression. But some scenes, specially in the beginning, are lazily put together, as though the narrative was clearing its throat before the big on-stage audition.
The music (by Rajesh Roshan) and the songs add nothing to the film's very high entertainment value.
At last we have India's first truly global super-hero film. Hrithik Roshan slices through the sky skillfully weaving through the emotions and drama and adventure to create a complete entertainer. There are no concessions to vulgarity in this super-hero saga. Younger viewers would specially enjoy Krissh's ability to connect with kids.
Rakesh Roshan combines the breathtaking SFX with a high level of emotion and drama. The result is quite often exhilarating and spectacular.
What a Diwali dhamaka this is!

Arrambam Movie Review

Cast : Ajith Kumar,Arya,Nayantara,Taapsee Pannu
Music : Yuvan Shankar Raja
Director: Vishnuvardhan
Producer : A. Raghuram
Release Date : 31st October 2013
CBFC : U
Rating: 3.75/5
Story:
Ashok Kumar [Ajith], a patriot on mission for exposing the people behind an ugly scam that is uproot to mafia. Ashok Kumar aka AK is supported by Nayantara in his operation. As story progresses AK ropes in techie hacker played by Arya, who falls for Taapsee, a journalist. Arrambam story takes twists and turns here with an intriguing mass interval and reveals the main plot with a flashback in the second half. Will AK succeeds in his assignment? Forms the Aarambam crux…
Watch Ajith’s Arrambam for the flashback and stick to the seats twists and turns…
Performances:
Ajith looks dashing with his salt and pepper look in V shaped T-shirts and pulls his role as Ashok Kumar with ease. As ever, Ajith has hold Arrambam on his shoulders with skyrocketing stunts, dances, acting and what not.
Nayantara carried out her role by means of get-up-and-go with style, though she maintains fiery façade here and there.
Arya’s presence as a techie hacker with a new hairstyle is quite fond of. Arya has done his parts well and pulls off audience chord in few of his scenes.
Rana has excelled with his screen presence even if it is only for little time. As a girly journo, Taapsee is sure to make few hearts melt but has nothing to perform much.
Mahesh Manjrekar, Kishore, Atul Kulkarni and others are good.
Techincal Analysis:
Vishnuvardhan’s direction is stylish and kudos to his choice of cast and crew for Arrambam. Even though there are some sneak peeks here and there, Arrambam team has handled it to the fullest.
Suba, writer duo Suresh and Balakrishnan have penned an engaging script for Arrambam and hooked audiences to their seats with more engaging screenplay.
Yuvan Shankar Raja’s background scores couldn’t make the impact as the Ajith’s Arrambam audio did. Nonetheless he has added enough seriousness to the action sequences with his score. ‘Adada Arrambame’, ‘Melala Vedikkudhu’ and 'En Fuse Pochu' songs are good onscreen in support of camera works.
Om Prakash, the debutant cinematographer has proved his mettle to be here in Kollywood with his eye pleasurable visuals in fight scenes and songs.
Stunt choreographers Jegan, Kecha and Lee Whittaker need a tap for numerous action parts, especially the climax and the boat chase are appealing.
Analysis:
Ajith and Vishnuvardhan on board with their trusted team of Arrambam, which belts a sneak connection with films like Sword Fish, A Wednesday and Indian, well they remained only shades. Movie has a kick start with never thought fashionable entry of Thala Ajith followed by racy first half.
Arrambam Second half has more interesting parts compared to first, as actual plot is revealed here. Arya, Nayantara, Tapsee and Rana’s characters leave an impact on viewers. As said before Arya as tech savvy reminds you of ‘A Wednesday’, Arrambam climax similar to Kamal Haasan’s Indian movie and the actual plot alike as Sword Fish.
Totally Arrambam is a tailor-made action packed bouncy entertainer, but one shouldn’t think of logics as it is commercial best-spoken for fans.
Final Verdict:
Diwali Arrambam with a class + mass Ajith and team on board…

Bhai Movie Review

Cast: Nagarjuna , Richa Gangopadhyay , Sonu Sood , Brahmanandam
Directed by : Veerabhadram
Produced by : Nagarjuna Akkineni
Banner :Annapurna Studios
Music by : Devisri prasad
Rating: 2/5
Nagarjuna, who is not having a good run at the box office in recent times, is back with Bhai, a commercial potboiler. Veerabhadram, who made two comedy hits wielded the megaphone for Bhai.
What is it about?
Bhai (Nagarjuna) is the main henchman of international Don David (Asish Vidhyardhi). Bhai comes on a mission to kill an undercover cop who is creating problems for underworld mafia in Hyderabad. However, Bhai comes to know that undercover cop Arjun (Prasanna) is none other than his younger brother. Now Bhai has to rescue his brother from David and his son (Sonu Sood).
Performances
Nagarjuna is fit and glamorous as usual. At 54, he is still competing with young heroes in looks and physical maintenance. His performance is okay as Bhai. He did well in sentimental scenes. Richa Gangopadhyaya doesn't have much of a role to play. Her character is poorly written and irritates most of the times. Sonu Sood is wasted. Asish Vidhyardhi is over the top. Brahmanandam's cameo is okay. There is nothing much to write about the remaining star cast. There are many known faces in this film, but none of them got a role to remember.
Technicalities
Devi Sri Prasad failed as the music director. Songs are below par and the background score is pathetic. Dialogues, which are popularly known as Bhai bullets are horrible. There are tons of unnecessary dialogues in the movie. Sameer Reddy, who is a very good cinematographer failed miserably in this. It looked like it was shot by an amateur. Editing is equally bad.
Director Veerabhadram failed to make this an enjoyable fare. His first two films had good comedy and appealed to the crowds. This time he couldn't get anything right. Script is poorly written and execution is even worse. Veerabhadram should perhaps stick to his strengths rather making such mediocre mass entertainers.
Analysis
First half of Bhai is unbearable with story not moving anywhere. Introduction scenes of Nagarjuna and his Bhai act in Bangkok are not at all impressive. Love track between Nag and Richa tested the patience of audience. Except for first song, the other two songs are badly placed in the first half.
Second half starts off with an interesting twist at the interval. There is some story to write about in the second hour. The father-son, sister-brother sentiment scenes are not shot well. There is scope for the director to work out comedy and sentiment in the second half. But he messed it up with poor writing.
He has concentrated more on unnecessary stuff like punch dialogues and hero elevation scenes. Those scenes and dialogues are not good too. Hence, the film ended up as a horrible affair that will test anyone. Nagarjuna fans and masses also will be disappointed with this.

Doosukeltha Movie Review

Film: Doosukeltha
Starring: Manchu Vishnu,Lavanya Tripathi, Brahmanandam
Director: Veeru Potla
Producer: Mohan Babu
Banner: 24 Frames Factory
Music: Manisharma
Rating: 3/5
Story
Chinna (Vishnu Manchu) joins for a news channel headed by Posani and makes a deal to shoot a video in a minister’s house. During the process he gets into danger and Alekhya (Lavanya Tripathi) saves him. Impressed with Alekhya, he follows him and saves her when needed. The duo falls for each other but Alekhya gets to know that Chinna is a childhood neighbor whom she hates from 13 years due to the past? What is the past of Alekhya and family? Will Chinna and Alekhya reunite forms the other part of the story.
Performances
Manchu Vishnu is good in action sequences and comedy scenes. He improved in comic timing and dances in Doosukeltha. He could improve a bit more in dialogue delivery.
Lavanya is beautiful and she has good scope since the story revolves around her role. She delivers an okay job.
Brahmanandam is a treat to watch while Vennela Kishore is hilarious. Kota Srinivasa Rao is significant, Bharat, Hema did their jobs as required. Ali is limited. Others were adequate.
Technical Analysis
Mani Sharma’s musical scores are mediocre but they are visually appealing with beautiful locales in the backdrop. Background score is good. Cinematography is neat, editing is crisp. Story is routine while the screenplay is gripping. Dialogues are interesting. Veeru Potla scores as director once again. Production values are good.
Analysis
Veeru Potla made Doosukeltha with right mix of commercial elements. The story though routine is sensible and screenplay is gripping. The first half is filled with ample comedy and Vishnu, Brahmi scenes are a treat to watch. The second half is implemented in Ready style format with punchlines. Brahmanandam and Bharath have done a very good job. Climax looked silly with illogical action scenes. Lakshmi Manchu has nothing to do for the film and it’s just a cameo for few seconds. The makers have hyped her song as a promotional strategy.
Despite Veeru Potla coming up with routine storyline, he presented it an interesting way with loads of hilarious scenes. Right from the word go Doosukeltha offers entertainment. Vishnu Manchu has been opting for a safe route of comedy entertainers rather than experiments and Doosukeltha is one such film that garners positive response for its entertainment.
Final Verdict
Despite routine story, Doosukeltha is worth a watch for its hilarious scenes…
